Welcome to Ms. Kim’s Mandarin Class. My name is Susan Kim (Jin Yingjun) and I’m teaching advanced Level in Grade 5 and Kindergartern, Inter-mediate level in Grade 3 and non-native level in Grade 4 this year. I was graduated from Zhejiang Teachers’ University and Beijing Foreign Language Study University. I have been engaging in teaching for 19 years and this is my seventeen school year at XIS. I regard teaching as my ideal career and part of my life. I love students and teaching them.

I believe school education should be linked with home education, especially in low school. I wish to work together with parents in students’ home learning. Childhood is only once in one’s life. Attitude is everything. Let’s enjoy in children’s growing.

.Read text 5 times and practice dialogue according to the text every day.

.Read a Chinese book every week
每周阅读一本中文书
1.    Mon. Read the text and write the key words, sentence and
memorize them. 读课文,写好词好句,尽力记住;
2.    Tue. & Wed. Write the new characters one line each and make 2-5
words , 1 sentence. 每字一行,组词,造句;
3.    Wed. Review or recite key paragraph or all text, do the exercise
after the text. 课后练习;每字一行,组词,造句;
4.    Thur. Finish the exercise book A or B. Write the last question.
完成练习册上相关的作业;抄写最后一题。
5.    Fri. dictation, PYP link with homeroom, diary or composition(G5) , or unit review.
跟课文课的UOI连接,或日记作文,单元复习;听写。
l    Above is only the basical works, the students are encouraged to write more characters, words or sentences until they memorize all.

G4 Mandarin Class

We have two textbooks for guiding our teaching and learning. During festival period, we’ll do some culture activities. Also we’ll following some UOI together with the homeroom. Standard Chinese is our main textbook while Chinese Made Easy is more challenge and interesting. Small Character Book is for practicing writing, Big Pink Book if for Chinese Words Bank. Purple book is for interesting Chinese Characters and words. We do some works card and poster work too. In a notebook, we note down what we do in Mandarin class now and then. All we tried is making Chinese interesting for

everyone to learn and enjoy more. Most of the time, we have a test every Friday.
